Susana Vega, Hand-Crafted Wooden Jewelry That Tells a Story Straight from Guatemala
Susana Vega is Venezuelan jewelry designer born in Mérida, Venezuela and currently based in Houston, Texas, USA on asylum.
Vega grew up in her family’s goldsmith workshop, inheriting a deep tradition of craftsmanship that shapes her work. She launched her brand in 2008, blending these traditional techniques with her own artistic vision to create jewelry that feels expressive, soulful, and inspired by nature, art, and Latin women. Her designs often explore themes like geometry and the Fibonacci sequence, combining innovative materials with symbolic meaning.
Susana is the 2022 winner of the LAFS Accessories Designer of the Year at the Latin American Fashion Summit.
For Susana, jewelry is not merely a craft but an art form. Through her designs she explores shapes, colors, textures, and materials to create pieces that embody two ideals that might seem contradictory at first glance: passion and elegance.
Her most recent drop is called Soto, a collection of wooden jewelry, compelling not just for its natural beauty, but for the story behind how it’s made. Each piece is carefully handcrafted in Guatemala, where skilled artisans shape, sand, and finish the wood using traditional techniques passed down through generations. This hands-on process gives every item a unique character—no two pieces are exactly alike, and small variations in grain and form become part of their charm. By combining thoughtful design with fully handmade production, the jewelry reflects both a deep respect for natural materials and the cultural heritage of its creators.
