P.S. Kitchen

PhotoBook Magazine recently had lunch at P.S. Kitchen located in Hell's Kitchen.  P.S. Kitchen is a vegan social business based in NYC and they donate 100% of their profits to their favorite charitable partners and create jobs for the marginalized in New York. P.S. Kitchen was started by April Tam Smith.  You can learn more here.

PhotoBook's lunch with Mike Ruiz, Creative Director + Alison Hernon, Editor-In-Chief  started with the Caesar Salad - Hearty Mixed Greens, Crispy Capers, Herbed Croutons, Cashew Parmesan, and a Creamy Caesar Dressing  Krabby Cakes - A combination of chickpeas, artichokes and hearts of palm, chopped onion and garlic with herbed panko breadcrumbs and lemon and Buffalo Maitake Wings - Breaded Organic Maitake Mushrooms with Choice of Buffalo Sauce, BBQ, and Sweet Thai Chili, served with Potato Salad, Celery Sticks, Carrot Sticks, and House Bleu Cheese. The flavors and textures of everything are sheer perfection.

Black-N-Bleu Burger (Mike), “The best burger that I've had in a very long time.”

Fettuccine Alfredo (Alison) was so creamy and the pasta was perfectly cooked. As delicious as it was, the hearty portion kept me from finishing it so I took half of it home with me to be equally enjoyed the following day!

We ended the meal with Vegan Cheesecake. OMG! We love a good cheesecake and this was better than any dairy based dessert we'd ever had.

The ambiance and decor of PS Kitchen are so inviting and the staff is a delight.  The menu is complete and there is something for everyone, vegan or not.  Right in the heart of the theater district, PS Kitchen is a must before or after a show. You really don't have to be vegan to have a sensational meal but it is comforting to know that you can have a culinary experience like this without harming a single sentient being.
