McQUEEN REVERB: LIVE LISTENING SESSIONS IN LONDON
Alexander McQueen’s brand started in the nineties and has always been connected in British arts and subculture. McQueen has been heavily inspired by music, film, the arts and more. Music and fashion are constant collaborators, and, in this series, we see just how true that is.

Starting off with four respective dates in June of this year, this new project aims to bring together an array of diverse talents within music to have a chat with curators who guide the conversation into the exploration of the intersections of music, culture, and fashion, especially that of London. At their flagship store at 27 Old Bond Street, the first talent selected by Alexander McQueen’s creative director Seán McGirr was Bar Italia. They shared music from bands that got themselves interested in music, songs found in the soundtracks of movies that are inspired, and all-around classic bangers that are reminiscent of their own sound.

In the conversation with A.G. Cook, he expressed that what he loves most in the songs he picked is that some artists unnecessarily go that extra step, creating a wonderful blend of effort and weirdness; an attribute that could accurately describe the work of Alexander McQueen himself. His previous experience includes producing for Charli XCX whom he features in his playlist as well as other songs that could make for a short discography of his various work that spans across genres.
The playlists for Bar Italia and A.G. Cook are available to the public on the McQueen website and on Apple Music.

Other nights included a conversation with musician John Glacier who was paired with Femi Adeyemi, as well as Nilüfer Yanya and Cynthia Igbokwe. Of course, these events would not be possible without a sound system which was provided by Chris Tindall, a London-based sound consultant with over a decade of expertise, delivering an iconic experience that focuses on precision, aesthetics, and high-fidelity.
These conversations embrace the individual inspirations that connect us to our own memories and provide a community of those that may have different experiences but are brought together by similar music and appreciation for art, and fashion. Above all else, this new program highlights the art of just listening and being present, as the present is where the future is made and built upon the foundation of the past.
