ACNE STUDIOS OPENS PERMANENT GALLERY SPACE, ACNE PAPER PALAIS ROYAL IN PARIS

A clear and unsurprising step in the brand’s cultural and creative evolution, Acne Studios opens its first permanent gallery space, Acne Paper Palais Royal, in June of this year. Located in its original Paris location of 124 Galerie de Valois, the gallery extends Acne Studios’ relationship with the worlds of art, design, photography, publishing, and craftsmanship.

Inspired by the brand’s own magazine, Acne Paper, the gallery will act as an incubator of creative thinking through multiple means and mediums. The space will host artist talks, exhibitions, magazine launches, booking signings, and more. As a place for all artistic expression and a space of celebration, Acne Paper Palais Royal will be a platform to bring recognition to those Johansson believes deserves it and maybe would not have gotten otherwise. All it takes is for one person to see your art, and your dreams to follow. This building is representative of every artistic dream, no matter the method or resource.

With Angelina Jolie creating her own space to support artists at Atelier Jolie, Acne Studios creating their own hub in support of the arts surely cements what we hope will become a trend in the world of fashion.

Jonny Johansson has always focused on what is important, and when it comes to fashion, all is involved; photography, art, architecture, design, culture and the magazines, books, and exhibitions that display it all. It only makes sense to create a space that morphs and collaborates with the needs of a multidisciplinary vision. There have been many debates over the imminent death of physical media, but with this permanent gallery, the creative director of Acne Studios promises that such debates are nonsensical, and all disciplines are necessary and welcome.

Acne Paper Palais Royal just opened on June 26th with a solo exhibition by Paul Kooiker, a Dutch artist whose photography work has spanned art and fashion for more than three decades. In his new body of work, titled 2025, Kooiker showcases forty-two portraits of international students at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. The images capture the instability of the present, a timeless issue that remains prevalent year after year, decade after decade. With instability and unpredictably being a throughline of this year, Jonny Johansson provides a safe place for all expressions.
