Kate Barton Takes to the Runway for Spring/Summer 2026

This most recent New York Fashion Week, Kate Barton returned to the runway, showcasing a collection that explored shape, fabric, and the intriguing principles of illusion. For Spring/Summer 2026, her designs are more vibrant, colorful, and seemingly blend surrealism and athleticism.

Styled by Elizabeth Sulcer, the show explores a sharpened visual language that feels instinctual while being grounded in allure, unveiling a refreshing take on her signature pastel palette with bursts of vibrant, disruptive colors.

A two-panel layout contrasts styles: the left features a coordinated brown and light pink knit set with knee-high socks, while the right pairs a sporty navy graphic jersey with a voluminous light pink bubble skirt.

Kate Barton says of her collection, “This collection is about questioning preconceptions - my own included - about shape, print, and the ways we separate sportswear, fashion, and eveningwear. I wanted the runway to feel like a passage into another dimension, a space where these oppositions not only coexist but create something unexpectedly alluring.”

She introduces us to her first full-scale print, a playful and disruptive melding of the classic polka dot print with illusion, as if embellishments were strewn into much of the fabric. Retro athleticism is blended with the codes of eveningwear, highlighting Barton’s instinct for bringing harmony between the sporty and femininity in the clothes of everyday wear.

A two-panel image captures two models wearing different dress: one is in a sleeveless mini dress with a cool-toned gradient effect and the other is in a red strapless gown.

Through this collection, Barton has shown balance between the worlds of editorial and commercial while resonating with the path fashion is currently on. Her collections will be available at key retailers beginning this month.
