Travel & See The Sites On A Budget, Check Out These Cities In The U.S. For A Weekend Getaway

This month marks the anniversary for when COVID-19 was discovered in Wuhan, China.  
Now it has become a global pandemic and many people tend to stay at home. When you feel the need for an escape—a getaway, here some places to go; some may be close to you. These places may not be that expensive for when you are there,
assuming you can locate inexpensive accommodations.

1. Washington, DC - The capital of the U.S.
There are many free places to visit such as:
a. The National Mall: Smithsonian Museums for free from Botanical Gardens to Space to Dinosaurs.  Get a world class education for free.
b. Library of Congress: The largest library in the world.
c. U.S. Capitol Building: Located in Capitol Hill, The U.S. Capitol building is the home of Congress. Near the capitol building is the Supreme Court

2. Memphis Tennessee - The city is where Graceland,  the home of Elvis Presley, is located.
a. Visit the Memphis Rock-n Soul Museum for only $13. From the 1930s-1970s, Memphis was the spot for musicians.
b. Stroll down Beale Street and experience the live entertainment and restaurants.

3. Williamsburg, Virginia - A town rich in history that offers affordable sites. 
a. Yorktown Village: Explore the rich colonial heritage for what this area is know for.
b. Greensprings Greenway Trail: Check out the beautiful wetlands and follow trails for the day.

4. Philadelphia Pennsylvania - Known for the Cheese Steak sandwiches and the first Rocky movie.
a. Visit the Museum of Art.
b. The famous Liberty Bell.
c. Try a BYOB restaurant to save on expensive cocktails.

5. Indianapolis Indiana - The capitol of Indiana.
Bike along the cultural trail and stop at one of the many breweries.

6. Pittsburgh Pennsylvania - Check out the city for its amazing views. 

7. Kansas City, Missouri - Known for its heritage jazz, fountains, and barbecues, as well as the museum for Negro Baseball.
a. Check out the Boulevard Brewing Company which offers free tours.
b. Visit the Secret Garden at Kauffman Legacy Park.

8. Albuquerque, New Mexico - The capital of New Mexico.
a. Visit the Petroglyph National Monument.
b. Hop on the Sandia Peak Tramway

9. Savannah Georgia - A charming Southern escape where art, period architecture, trendy boutiques, and ghost stories are all set under a veil of Spanish moss.
a. Visit one of the many free attractions such as River Street or the City Market.

10. Boston, Massachusetts - Home of the Boston Red Sox and the many colleges and universities. This historical city was an important center for colonial America and the Boston Tea Party.
a. Check out the Freedom Trail for only $12 or walk around Harvard Campus for free.
