New Collections Celebrate Lunar New Year

Despite all the excitement of the ball drop, fireworks and countdown as the Gregorian calendar rolled over from 2023 to 2024 earlier this week, the new year doesn’t begin on the Lunar calendar until February 10, 2024.  Take a look below at nine collections honoring the Lunar New Year. According to the Chinese zodiac, 2024 will be the year of the dragon, and this is a key emblem across these collections. In Chinese culture, the dragon represents strength, nobleness, honor, luck and success.

One. Jaeger-LeCoultre

Jaeger-LeCoultre has released a new version of its Reverso Tribute, this time in honor of the year of the dragon. The reversible face shows a black clock on one side, which can be flipped to reveal a dragon engraving. This face required more than 80 hours of engraving with 10 differently sized chisels.

Two. Piaget

Swiss watchmaker and jeweler Piaget has revealed its dragon and phoenix inspired Lunar New Year Collection, including watches, a dragon brooch, a ring, and Phoenix ear cuffs.

Three. Jane Win

Jane Win has unveiled a coin pendant, inscribed with a dragon and “Et Surgo,” meaning ‘”Rise.”

Four. Coach

Coach’s Lunar New Year capsule collection includes a cotton T-shirt, handbag, hoodie, watch, and bucket hat with a dragon illustration by artist Lian Yang. My favorite part of the collection is a tan leather version of Coach’s Rogue 25 handbag, featuring the dragon iconography and aesthetic brass hardware.

Five. Sandro

Sandro has launched a range of menswear and womenswear in honor of the Year of the Dragon. The capsule’s menswear contains elevated casual apparel with a recurring dragon motif. The womenswear takes a more romantic route, with soft colors and a quiet luxury look.

Six. CLOT x Roots

CLOT and Roots are no strangers, having teamed up previously for the  “Go Outside: You’ll be Glad” collection. Their latest partnership, “Stay Lucky,” celebrates the Lunar New Year, featuring the embroidered dragon motif. Check out the varsity jacket, hoodies, T-shirts, and sweatpants, bags, wallets, headwear, and socks.

Seven. Koio

This year is Koio’s fourth annual Lunar New Year drop. This year, they launched a dragon-themed version of the Capri sneaker.

Eight. Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren has dropped a new collection for men, women, and children in celebration of the Lunar New Year. My favorite part of this collection is the knitwear with the brand’s iconic Polo Bear mascot wearing a red jacket and slippers with a dragon logo.

Nine. Fendi x Pokémon x Fragment

Fendi has teamed up with both Pokémon and Fragment on a co-branded capsule collection. They have included Pokémon characters Dragonite, Dragonair, and Dratini, taking a whimsical approach to Lunar New Year.

As these collections pay homage to the Year of the Dragon, they not only showcase remarkable artistry and design but also serve as a beautiful reminder of the universal values of strength, luck, and prosperity cherished across cultures.
