LOEWE’s Leather lands

LOEWE returns with a fresh take on their Fall Winter 2024 precollection with a series that draws inspiration from natural topographies, turning them into colorful, textured leather goods. The Landscape series exhibits the House’s distinctive leather charm through ornate leather techniques crafted by LOEWE’s artisans.

The collection really plays into geometric construction, with a range of colors that aid in creating a tactile experience that is visually stunning, through crafted leather items reflecting coastal landscapes and natural striations with rich contrast and form.

In conjunction with classic brown leather tones, bolder hues found in nature add a hint of freshness to the designs. To achieve looks that resemble horizontal rock strata layers, and other topographical terrains in different tones, special leather techniques are implemented into the craft. LOEWE’s artists begin by cutting contrasting pieces of leather which are then compressed into landforms.

These landforms are just the start. A core part of the process includes a technique called skiving, which reveals the layers of leather beneath the surface through the removal of thin layers from the top. This technique provides a tactile experience, and a depth and tone that mimic the look of natural erosion and geological ridges.

LOEWE’s leather savoir-faire really shines through with a new, more colorful version of its Puzzle bag in the style of the series. Through a subtle pop of color and asymmetry, the form creates more movement, enriching the surface and shape of the iconic bag.

The collection doesn’t just focus on larger items, like the new take on the Flamenco clutch, but it also allows for cardholders and wallets to share a bit of the spotlight. Applying the same techniques used for larger bags, LOEWE builds on the series with diligent graduations of tones and textures that are equally as impactful on a smaller scale, while staying true to the brand.
