This past New York Fashion Week, label Dur Doux unveiled their latest collection entitled “Femme Dechainee”, which was inspired and influenced by a woman’s journey to a more assertive, bold, and personal sense of style. Staying true to the name Dur Doux, which translates to “Hard, Soft”, the collection was an array and beautiful combination of bold pieces and sets that make the wearers presence known, as well as elevated staples that can be styled down for everyday occasions.

In some pieces, I see wild disco-like influences; like the reflective mirrored materials and wild psychedelic tiger prints. In other pieces, I see classical french influence, such as the polka-dot pattern and puffed out tulle. Through the variety of prints, the collection is still very cohesive through the common threads of silhouette, structure, and styling, and is all very identifiably Dur Doux. The styling of ornate and fragile tulle gown with the contrast of a leather jacket and studded gloves, as well as the more everyday shirt and pants set paired with crystal heels and fine jewelry, displays just the right amount of wearability and life to these gorgeous pieces that can often appear intimidating. The Dur Doux AW24 collection is a collection of timeless pieces meant to give power and a voice to its wearer, even when they’re not speaking.
