Bringing High Fashion Into Your At-Home Holiday Wardrobe

The year 2020 has been, without a doubt, one of the most uncertain and chaotic years in recent history.  But a year of chaos makes a relaxing holiday season just that much more necessary. This year, the holiday season might look different from years past: masks at family parties, smaller  gatherings, and far fewer holiday events to dress up for. For the few intimate gatherings, you’re preparing for, a polished holiday wardrobe is still something to strive for! This holiday season be ready for some of the chicest styles and most wearable fashions for your At-Home  Holiday Celebrations.

From the coziest cozy sweaters to festive winter florals, the winter runways and subsequent output of winter clothing items have provided countless options for your holiday wardrobe, no matter what you are (or aren’t) planning to do. The best part is that the runway looks are actually ready to wear. Here are some of the most at-home-holiday friendly trends to recreate this year. Let’s start with the big-ticket item: big coats.

1. Statement Coats are the perfect topper to any outfit this holiday season. Shag coats give some  much-needed comfort while capes are key for a sophisticated look.

2. Puff Sleeves are another trend that appeared in countless ways over the past few months of runway. Puff sleeves are a great way to add a little spice to your life (something we are all  dying to do).

3. Sweater Vests are making their way back into the mainstream. Brands such as Kenneth Ize, Samsoe, and Alexa Chung have all launched collections including sweater vests over the last  few months. And, once again, Marc Jacobs (Marc Jacobs Fall ’20 RTW) was another contributor to this trend.

4. Cozy Sweaters the fall quarantine uniform. On top of the unmatched comfort  of a nice knit sweater, this style is totally ‘in’ right now, too. It’s the perfect way to combine your  necessary holiday comfort with the high-end fashion of the season. Numerous high-end shows  displayed knits and cozy sweaters for the fall/winter season. Ermenegildo Zegna and Richard  Malone were just two of the brands to show off this totally wearable trend.

5. Winter Prints & Florals:
With how mundane our lives have been over the last few months it’s no wonder that winter  prints are all the rage. Winter florals have become increasingly popular this fall, along with other  winter prints like plaids and animals. These print trends, by Rodarte and Balenciaga, are so  emblematic of the festive season to come mixed with the spring and summer seasons many of  us didn’t have the chance to experience.

Menswear brands like Ermenegildo Zegna also joined in on the dark printed looks.

6. Structured Midi & Maxi Skirts:
Denim, leather, and a few other structured materials have made their way into the maxi skirt  world. Structured maxis will be the perfect high fashion piece to implement into your holiday  outfit. Maximum comfort mixed with high fashion is key for an efficient holiday wardrobe. Fendi Fall ’20 RTW

7. Mary Janes are the shoes of the season. Mary Janes have entered the fashion space more  times than one this season and have surprised us again and again with their newfound variety.  A pump version is perfect for a more sophisticated look, a platform for something a bit more fun,  and the classic flat is great for any family gathering. Gucci was one particular advocate of the  Mary Jane’s this year as they appeared countless times on the Fall 2020 Ready-to-Wear and  Menswear runways.

8. Masks: Of course, no 2020 holiday outfit is complete without a mask. Major fashion brands are coming out with their own mask lines more and more. Coach has a line in creation, which will be coming  out soon! Meanwhile, Burberry and Off-White are two brands selling high end face masks now.
