Baccarat Hotel's Spa de La Mer, in New York, NY

Arriving at the Baccarat Hotel, there is a feeling of luxury with the beautiful entrance, structures made of Baccarat crystal.  I took the elevator down to Spa de La Mer, which is recommended to use the amenities of gym and steam room prior to the facial.  Upon getting ready for my facial, I received a nice reception and she thoroughly read my fact sheet I filled out prior to the appointment and noted a few questions, I felt I was in good hands. The 60-minute facial was everything and more than I hoped for.  A lot of facials I have received from different spas involve steaming, extraction and then they leave you alone for a couple of masks that take up the full 60 minutes.  Not this facial, every moment was filled with the essentials plus massaging the critical areas I mentioned, while receiving the masks.  I truly enjoyed the experience and my skin looked luminous afterwards.

DESIGN

Hotel designers Gilles & Boissier envisioned the spa to be reminiscent of a luxurious European seaside retreat, with vaulted tent-like ceilings. The design of Spa de la Mer brings the La Mer brand to life with luxurious textures and a soothing color palette. Rich bespoke materials in warm champagne and bronze tones are inspired by the signature ingredient found in all La Mer products, The Miracle BrothTM. The reception area is accented with a calming golden ocean visual, while Italian marble floors and white washed planks line the hallways. Each treatment room is adorned with a beautiful mural of sea kelp hand painted by New York artists, Lynda White and Jeff Wood. Custom Baccarat crystal sconces line the space, casting a warm glow.

Adjacent to the spa intimate treatment rooms, Gilles & Boissier installed luxurious canopied day beds and lined the bottom of the 55-foot swimming pool with black and white tiles, reminiscent of a sunken ballroom.
