Fragrance Guide: Summer To Fall

As seasons change and we trade our cut-offs for corduroy, fragrances change. If you’re like me, September is just late summer and in Raleigh it will likely remain in the 80s until October. Changing your perfume lineup from airy and fresh to heavy and warm is the perfect way to make it seem like fall without the pain of trying to wear a sweater when it’s still 85 degrees outside. Here are four fragrances to take you from summer into fall, and four that can stay all season long and even into winter.

Late Summer to Early Fall Fragrances

Versace Yellow Diamond - This eau de toilette has key notes of citron, orange blossom, and amber wood, which gives it a fresh and light feel but still offers hints of fall from the amber wood. According to Southern Living it was inspired by a setting sun.

Burberry Her Eau de Parfum - Described as the first gourmand fragrance with a British twist by Burberry. It has notes of red and dark berries that are uplifted by a white woody accord, creating a fragrance that is perfect for any season.

Brydeo Gypsy Water - This perfume is based on a fascination for myth and can bring summer into fall with its top notes of bergamot, lemon, pepper, and juniper berries, which are warmed for fall with heart and base notes of incense, pine needles, amber, vanilla, and sandalwood.

Boy Smells Suede Pony - This “Genderful Fine Fragrance” is the perfect way for anyone to ring in the fall. Suede Pony combines light and fruity notes of pineapple, plum, and coconut water with deeper tones of suede, cardamom, and saffron to create what Boy Smells describe as a unique mix of moody sophistication and sexy irreverence.

Maison Louis Marie No.04 Bois de Balincourt - This will be my go-to fragrance for fall. Inspired by the “Lovers Lane” trail in the woods surrounding the family home. Maison Louis Marie created the most romantic fall fragrance ever. This perfume oil has top notes of sandalwood and cedar wood, which are slightly sweetened with mid notes of vetiver, nutmeg, and cinnamon. This scent is not only available as a perfume oil but also as an eau de parfum, candle, lotion, body wash, and deodorant.

Maison Margiela’s REPLICA Autumn Vibes - It would be a cardinal sin to exclude a fragrance literally named “Autumn Vibes” from a fall fragrance guide. With notes of red berries cardamom, cedar wood, and moss, “Autumn Vibes” will make you feel like you’ve just stepped into a magical forest on a crisp autumn morning.

Gucci Mémoire d’une Odeur - This fragrance rivals the traditional gender assignments of perfumes and explores the power of memory. Gucci established a new olfactive family with this scent that they call Mineral Aromatic. Top notes of Roman Chamomile with a green aromatic scent, it is kept sweet by Indian Coral Jasmine and is brought into fall through precious musks, and base notes of vanilla and noble woods such as sandalwood and cedar wood. It’s also the scent Harry Styles wears. That is all it took to sell me on it.

Fenty Beauty Eau du Parfum - Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty released the highly anticipated Fenty Eau du Parfum this season and not only does it smell like fall it looks like it too. Magnolia and musk are lightened ever so slightly with tangerine and blueberry and combined with hints of Bulgarian rose, geranium, and patchouli to create a truly beautiful fall scent. Rihanna explained that she made the fragrance for herself, and who wouldn’t want to smell like her?
