PB Approved Beauty Products, All Of Them Are Cruelty Free
Each month, the PhotoBook team will be introducing our personal skincare, makeup, or hair favorites (cruelty-free of course). From longtime holy grails to new finds, we’re excited to share what we’ve been obsessed with for December!
1. The Beet Shield
If you haven’t heard of the recent controversy with the Purito, their cult-favorite Centella Green Level SPF 50+ sunscreen was discovered to have only SPF 19. This was devastating news to me as it was one of my favorites.
An alternative I’ve been loving recently is The Beet Shield sunscreen by Krave Beauty. This sunscreen is packed with clean ingredients and antioxidants, making it a great product for reducing hyperpigmentation in addition to protecting your skin from harmful UV rays. It also passes the no white cast test and doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy.
2. Hydro-stars Pimple Patches
These star-shaped hydrocolloid pimple patches are a fun twist to your traditional circle patches. Let’s face it, wearing those circle patches in public is not the cutest look—I prefer wearing them in the comfort of my own home. Starface offers decorative patches that can be worn with your everyday makeup. Just think of it as “accessorizing” your pimples instead of hiding them! Also, there’s a Hello Kitty version that I’ll definitely be getting next.
3. Son & Park Beauty Water
I’m a devoted Korean skincare enthusiast and the Son & Park’s Beauty Water is a great introduction to K-Beauty. This multifunctional product can be used as a toner or cleansing water and can be used throughout the entire day. I personally use it to clean my face in the morning and it creates the perfect base for my makeup.
4. Reusable Cotton Rounds
Reusable cotton rounds are a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to disposable ones. They can be used for removing makeup and applying liquid skincare products. Before transitioning to reusable cotton rounds, I used about two rounds per day and have done so since middle school. The thought of how much waste I’ve contributed to just from that is horrifying. As a full-time college student with a working job, I can confidently say that the extra aftercare step is no hassle at all. Simply rinse them under warm water with soap and throw them in with your laundry!
5. Glam Vice Retro Liner
Graphic liner is one of the most prevalent beauty trends as of now. Out of all the colored liners I’ve tried, Glam Vice’s Retro Liners are the easiest to work with and don’t feel overly dry after application. What makes these liners special is the fact that they’re water activated and a little goes a very long way.
6. Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser
Another Krave Beauty favorite of mine is their Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser. This cleanser works with all skin types and does not leave your skin feeling dry. If you have oily skin, don’t be alarmed by the term “hydrating.” I personally have oily skin and this cleanser works wonders on me. It’s gentle yet effective enough to efficiently clean my face.
7. The Good Stuff Complete Repair Balm No-rinse Conditioner
If you have long hair, then you’ll know the struggle of trying to take care of it. Since I don’t like using too many products on my hair, I’ll usually just go in with The Good Stuff’s Complete Repair Balm No-rinse Conditioner after my hair washing routine. This affordable, plant-based leave-in conditioner is a great detangler and doesn’t weigh down your hair.
8. Colourpop Glitter Gel
When it comes to adorable packaging, Colourpop’s Sailor Moon collection is a top contender. I’m obsessed with Sailor Moon and glitter, so when this collection came out, I knew I had to get my hands on the glitter gels. The glitter gels—which can be used on the face or on the eyes as an eyeshadow topper—provide intense sparkle while being mess-free (thankfully).
9. C’s The Day Serum
Vitamin C serum is a great introductory serum if you’re new to serums in general. It helps with hyperpigmentation, scarring, and dullness. The Good (Skin) Day’s vitamin C serum is a great option if you’re looking for something affordable and vegan. After a couple of months, I noticed my acne scars fading a bit. I simply add a few drops to my moisturizer every night. Make sure to store it in a cool place as vitamin C doesn’t react well to sunlight.
