Skin Gym is an award-winning skincare brand creating beauty products that deliver professional treatment results from the comfort of your own home. The brand specializes in innovative and affordable beauty solutions for daily skincare rituals. Founded by Karina Sulzer in 2017, Skin Gym has become a top-selling brand that is adored by A-listers. “I felt there was a huge gap in the market as it related to affordable, high quality beauty tools,” says Sulzer. “I went about trying to source high quality materials for low prices so I could bring it to retail. Our first retailer was actually a specialty food store in Los Angeles called Erewhon. They sold out in a week and its been off to the races ever since.”

Skin Gym has introduced “skin fitness” to a new generation of beauty lovers. The brand is cruelty-free, female-founded, and family-owned. Sulzer’s passion for skincare started at a young age. “I grew up around skincare, my mother and grandmother were estheticians back in Ukraine,” explains Sulzer. The best skincare advice she’s received? “A massage a day keeps the wrinkle away.”

Skin Gym offers a variety of products that you might also find at your favorite med spa: facial rollers, gua shas, face masks, serums, cyrocicles, facial cups, LED tools, and more. Sulzer says her favorite Skin Gym product depends on the day. “Right now, I love our Microcurrent Wand and Conductive Gel for a good lift, and the Face Sculptor to roll away any muscle tension.”

“I’m also obsessively using our workout sticks,” shares Sulzer. “It’s been very helpful with keeping my skin moisturized and protected while on the go, especially with how dry it’s been!” She also mentions Skin Gym’s LED mask and Super Juicy Collage Spray as products everyone needs in their skincare cabinet.

Skin Gym kindly sent me their Microcurrent Wand ($99) and Microcurrent Conductive Gel ($24) to test out myself. The Micorcurrent Wand is a non-invasive micro-current device that gives your face a workout, providing lifting and contouring. The device applies weak electrical discharges on the skin, helping to improve the appearance. The micocurrents cause muscle tissue to contract, improve blood flow, and stimulate collage production. “I feel instantly lifted and it really wakes up my skin,” Sulzer says.

I started off by cleansing my face and generously applying the Microcurrent Conductive Gel, which acts as a conductor for the current pulses. The device features 5 modes so you can adjust the intensity level. I personally didn’t mind the tingling sensation so I kept it at level 5. (It felt a bit like getting laser, but not nearly as painful!)

Like always, I began my review by only doing one side of my face. I moved the Microcurrent Wand upwards from the corner of my mouth to the corner of my eye.  My face is naturally round so I didn’t expect too much, but I was pretty impressed at this point because I started noticing more definition in my cheeks. Next, I went in upwards motions from the corner of my mouth to decrease the appearance of my smile line. For the final part of my massage. I went upwards from the bottom of my chin to my earlobe, helping to define my chin and jawline.

If I didn’t spend the whole 10 minutes that I used the device staring in the mirror, I would’ve thought it was some kind magic. The side of my face that I used it on already looked significantly more lifted. I tested this out over Thanksgiving weekend and asked my mom and sister if they could see a difference between the two sides of my face. Let’s just say they begged me to try it on them next! My mom’s results were even more noticeable than mine since she has more signs of aging. She said her skin looked “so youthful” and I couldn’t have agreed more. P.S. it works just as well on the neck as it does on the face!

If you couldn’t tell already, I give the Microcurrent Wand 5 stars and a standing ovation. They weren’t lying when they said it’s a workout for your face. I could see a noticable difference after the first use, but now that I’ve been doing it regularly my results just keep getting better. I’m impressed by how slimmer my face looks overall with consistent use. I’ve tried dozens of facial sculpting and lifting products but this has been my favorite so far. Don’t let the adorable pink packaging trick you, it actually does work as well as a spa treatment! Everyone I know is now adding the Sculpt Bundle to their holiday wishlist, but it’s the best self care gift for any time of the year.
