Sincerely, Deney Adam

Two words that often end a love letter: “Sincerely, Yours.” But for Deney Adam, it signifies anything but the end. It marks a beginning; a space where emotions and actions linger, where he reflects on love and life, and offers that truth to the world.

With Sincerely Yours, Adam unveils a deeply personal three-part project and musical journey built from the chaos of his life and relationships. It tells his story of romantic turmoil and self-discovery, where each song extends listeners another invite inside his mind.

Always deeply connected to fashion and makeup, Adam’s connection to these art forms are not just visuals, but narrative tools. Of course, the album’s imagery is going to dazzle under the eye of a makeup artist, but in this case, the visuals become a piece of a larger puzzle. They set the mood, frame the story, and create visuals that reflect his identity as both musician and artist. Together, they shape a body of work that’s both colorful and raw, layered, intimate, and uniquely his own.

How is Sincerely Yours connected to the story you told in your last album?
Sincerely Yours is the introduction to a three-part project. It’s the story, the beginning, the end, and everything in between that brought us here.

This project is deeply personal. It’s built from experiences and moments shared between me and a partner. The story doesn’t fully belong to me—so I can only speak from my perspective, my role, my emotions, and how I experienced it then and now. By the end of this three-part journey, you’ll truly understand.

What is your favorite track on the upcoming album and why?
My favorite track from this project is “AND SO AND SO”. That’s the one I connected with the most because it came straight from my feelings. When Nisha and I wrote it, I was deep in my anger phase, right in the middle of the chaos, trying to make sense of why this person refused to take responsibility for their own life.

I was mean. I was unpleasant. Sometimes I think maybe I should’ve been more patient, but honestly, I don’t regret it. I had been pushed to my limit mentally, and lashing out was the only way I knew how to protect him. The only thing I regret is letting the behavior go on for as long as it did. I was definitely an enabler, and I should’ve acted sooner.

Where do you find inspiration for your work?
Most of my inspiration comes from real life. Things I’ve actually gone through. From the outside, it might look like I live a simple life, but inside it’s chaotic. Especially my relationships. When I really think about it, all my relationships have been tragic. I should probably work on that, lol. Then again, I wouldn’t have any material to work with.

In your new music video snippet, we can clearly see your attention to detail when it comes to styling and makeup. How important is style to your storytelling?
Fashion sets the mood that’s the most important part of storytelling. It gives you a sense of self and shows you where you fit in the story. I’m a visual artist and a fashion queen, so those two things are absolutely essential to my process.

You have careers in both music and makeup. How did your background in makeup artistry shape the visuals for this new music?
For so long, I tried to keep the two separate, and I don’t even know why. I don’t think I’d be the artist I am today without both. They intertwine so seamlessly. Makeup is like painting a story, every detail placed with intention, and singing is the same way. I think they shape each other.

How has your personal sound changed from your past music to Sincerely Yours
That’s a funny question because literally the other day I was listening to my previous EP, from just two years ago, and I was like, cringe—what was I even thinking? But as far as my sound, it’s definitely more refined now. I think I’ve finally found it.

People always want to put me in the R&B box, but I don’t really think of myself as an R&B singer. I don’t do runs, and I don't have a big voice. I love pop music, but those vocals are usually really simple, and I love a good vocal gymnastic. So, I think I sit somewhere in between with my own twist.

For this project, I wanted the music to lean pop-forward, while the vocal arrangements sat in that sweet R&B pocket like a Brandy, Janet or even Mariah Carey style of vocal stocking…you don’t wanna see my vocal session lol.

If you could describe Sincerely Yours in 3 words, which ones would you choose?
I don’t think I can describe Sincerely Yours in three words. It’s too personal. It means too much to me, and I’m too attached to objectify its meaning. This is an ongoing process—there’s no closure yet.

Sincerely Yours is the last phrase you write on a letter before you sign your name. To me, it’s not the end, it's just the beginning of a conversation.

When creating the visuals for your music you have an incredible team backing you. What is the best memory you have from collaboration with them?
I often forget to enjoy the process. I know it sounds simple and self-explanatory, “enjoy the process.” But this time, I truly savored every moment and every person who helped bring this project to life. From the fashion team and the choreographer to the production crew. Everything came together seamlessly. Yes, it was stressful getting it all organized, but I felt fully present and safe in the moment.
