Seán McGirr Debuts First Alexander McQueen Collection For Autumn / Winter 2024 At Paris Fashion Week

Seán McGirr debuted his first collection as Alexander McQueen’s new creative director at Paris Fashion Week. The show’s notes described the Autumn / Winter collection as “revealing the animal within” with “compressed and elongated” silhouettes and “objects embedded and enveloped.” As the first model walked down the runway in a distorted drape dress in black laminated jersey, it became clear that Seán McGirr’s era at Alexander McQueen will be innovative and exciting with artistic fervor. The theme of “rough opulence” was ever present in the collection with standout looks like a luxurious natural shearling coat featuring an exaggerated padded collar, hand-knit wool jumpers boasting quadruple collars, and avant-garde car dresses fashioned from steel.

Located at the SEGRO Centre Paris Les Gobelins, the set design was “an industrial forest” with “grass bales in acid yellow wool with leather binding against a draped parachute backdrop.” The star-studded front row included Stray Kids member I.N, After’s Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Heartstopper’s Sebastian Croft, Shygirl, and Emma Chamberlin.
