Run Away With Me: Midnight Generation's Disco-Fueled Journey to Global Stardom
Few bands make nostalgia feel like the future quite the way Midnight Generation does. Armed with shimmering synths, infectious grooves, and enough dancefloor energy to power an entire festival circuit, the Chihuahua-born quintet has quietly transformed from one of Mexico's best-kept secrets into a bona fide international phenomenon. As they prepare to release their new single, "Runaways," and embark on a globe-spanning world tour, the band finds itself at a fascinating crossroads--balancing the wide-eyed excitement of a breakout act with the confidence of artists who have already conquered stages around the world. We caught up with Midnight Generation to talk about chasing horizons, building their retro-futuristic universe, and why sometimes the best adventures begin when you're willing to leave everything familiar behind.

Your music is deeply rooted in nostalgia, yet your career trajectory feels futuristic. How do you balance honoring the sounds that inspired you with creating something that feels entirely your own?
Tve definitely been inspired by artists who have had a great impact on me, in the way they make music and approach it. just like making the music enjoy listening to - music with a good rhythm to dance to, with a positive message, melancholic lyrics at times, but above all with an extremely enjoyable sound.
You've gone from playing local shows in Chihuahua to performing for more than 200,000 fans across multiple continents. Was there a specific moment when you collectively realized, "This isn't a dream anymore-this is our reality"?
*To be honest, I don't feel that way - I think it's just the next step to keep sharing stages with groups and artists we admire. For me and my band, the goal is clear: to keep playing and inspiring as if we were playing in our garage for our parents to hear our music. It is a very beautiful feeling to hear that our music is expanding borders."

Many artists talk about success changing their lives. How has success changed your creative processor has it made protecting your original instincts even more important?
It's difficult, because success can distract you from the path, or cloud your vision. For me it's something really great because it motivates you to keep going, and of course having better and more resources enables you to put on an even more incredible show and make more experimental music."
The 'MG Mothership' imagery suggests both escape and exploration. If Midnight Generation's music is a vehicle, where is it trying to take listeners emotionally?
*This ship is headed in a direction where comedy, fun, and good feelings are present. I think that's what music is for - to enjoy, to close your eyes, to laugh, to shout, and to make the synthesizers explode."
Your sound blends disco, funk, synth-pop, and electronic music, genres often associated with joy and movement. Do you see dancing as a form of escapism, connection, healing, or something else entirely?
*Yes, music can definitely be a common thread for healing or expressing what we live through, but each person will always do it in their own way - and that's the beautiful part."
As one of the Mexican bands gaining significant international recognition, do you ever feel a responsibility to represent a broader cultural story, or do you prefer to simply represent yourselves as artists?
"Definitely, we want to mark our future as one of the Mexican bands that transcended borders by doing something that wasn't easy - by shifting the stigma that exists around Mexican music a little, always very proud and deeply rooted."

When you look back at the version of yourselves that first formed the band, what would surprise them most about who Midnight Generation has become today?
“I think what has remained the same is the vibe we seek to deliver. Members have come and gone, but the music has stayed the same - with the same intention and with those sounds that define MG."
You're sharing stages with artists like Empire of the Sun, Purple Disco Machine, and Jamiroquai. Beyond the obvious excitement, what have these experiences taught you about longevity, reinvention, and staying creatively hungry?
Playing alongside the musicians you used to listen to when you first dreamed of making music, or dance to in your underwear in your room, is something inexplicable. That makes me feel like we're on the right path and the best is yet to come."
