Hodakova Assembles Life for Spring/Summer 2026

On the 29th of September 2025 in Paris, France, Hodakova presented their Spring/Summer 2026 collection titled, “Conventional Collection 112509,” where methods, memories, and materials come together to champion a reality that has been overlooked.

Existing first as Swedish folklore floral embroidery, the process of Assemblage constructs and collapses; being taken apart and pieced back together in order to exist as something new. A collection of a thousand umbrella bones and steel ribs adorned the figure: headpieces, skirts, and dresses.

The sculptural shapes are unbound, fragmented and weighed down by books. Linen, pillows, sheets; to mangle, fold, to flowerpress, and flinch, convey a story of lived life and the multitude of uses a book can have to its reader. Inspiration of these pieces grew from the life of Erika Aittamaa who knit the first Lovikavantar in 1892, assemblage altogether in a dress of gloves.

Established as a new medium in the 1960s, Assemblage is a technique that utilizes everyday, sometimes overlooked, objects. Larsson’s playful take on the medium includes waste, relics, and the discarded which has transformed into “a language for impatient, hypercritical, and anarchistic young artists,” as stated by William Seitz.

Hodakova pieces challenge all conventions by merging clothing and sculpture by enhancing the intangible nature of materials into a groundbreaking form of art that transcends traditional definitions of art or apparel by opting for an assemblage of archaeologies. “Conventional Collection 112509” tells the story of the multiple dimensions of life and what some may consider tradition.

For the Spring/Summer 2026 Collection, HODAKOVA has launched its first footwear line crafted sustainably from overstock leather. These items are offered in black, brown, and white with wooden heels inspired by the Renaissance. The collection includes boots, pumps, monk shoes, and lederhosen shoes, each embellished with decorative buttons.

With the shoes comes a new line of bags this season, made from leather riding boots and feature embroidered zipper flower appliqués.

The DACAPO operated in collaboration with the Swedish Thatching Association, to develop a program for the art and craft of thatching, to encourage the preservation of this generational heritage practice headed by Joar Nilsson.
