Damien Hirst Turns the Dom Pérignon Shield Into a Kaleidoscope

DOM PÉRIGNON UNVEILS ITS END-OF-YEAR 2026 LIMITED EDITION IN COLLABORATION WITH DAMIEN HIRST

Dom Pérignon is turning to contemporary art with a limited-edition collaboration created with British artist Damien Hirst. Bringing together Hirst’s unmistakable visual language and the Maison’s long-standing winemaking traditions, the collaboration explores the space between heritage and reinvention, craftsmanship and experimentation, and structure and freedom. At the center of the collaboration is a shared fascination with assemblage. For Dom Pérignon, assemblage is fundamental to each vintage's character, bringing together grapes from a single year to reveal the complexity and harmony of the final wine. For Hirst, assembling existing fragments into new compositions has long been central to his practice, particularly through his Kaleidoscope series. The collaboration draws a direct parallel between the two creative processes, finding beauty not in simplicity but in how disparate elements can come together as a unified whole. That dialogue takes visual form through Hirst’s reinterpretation of the historic Dom Pérignon shield. Inspired by his Kaleidoscope paintings, the design multiplies and transforms the iconic emblem into a shifting, almost hypnotic composition. The shield repeats throughout the design, visually representing Dom Pérignon’s ongoing tension between tradition and transformation.

Color further distinguishes the limited edition, with two palettes corresponding to the vintages at its center. A deep blue represents Dom Pérignon Vintage 2018, evoking infinity and spirituality, while a warm pink reflects the character of Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2010 and the expression of Pinot Noir. Together, the two tones create a contrast between emotion and precision, complementing the visual rhythm of Hirst’s kaleidoscopic design. Hirst's selection continues Dom Pérignon’s longstanding engagement with artists and creators across contemporary culture. Since 2005, the Maison has developed collaborations spanning decorative arts and pop culture, including work with Karl Lagerfeld, Lenny Kravitz, and Lady Gaga. Hirst now joins that lineage with a practice that similarly challenges conventions and repeatedly examines transformation, beauty, life, and decline.

The two featured vintages offer another layer to the collaboration. Dom Pérignon Vintage 2018 emerged from a growing season marked by abundant sunshine and favorable water conditions, allowing Chef de Cave Vincent Chaperon to pursue greater minerality, fruit, salinity, and tactile depth. Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2010 offers a contrasting expression, with Pinot Noir bringing density and intensity. Together, the vintages form a complementary pairing—one described as solar and taut, the other more intimate and shadowed.
With its 2026 limited edition, Dom Pérignon treats the bottle as a canvas for the same creative philosophy that shapes its winemaking: taking established elements and letting them become something unexpected. In Hirst’s kaleidoscopic reinterpretation, the Maison’s historic shield becomes a symbol of movement, repetition, and renewal: an emblem of how tradition can remain recognizable while continually evolving.
