Chained By Sedona

Chained by Sedona was created by California born and Australian raised model and actress Sedona Legge. After several years in the fashion industry modeling and working with brands such as Gucci and Tom Ford, Sedona started her own jewelry label. Seeing the design processes of designers like Alessandro Michele, she was inspired to create her own work. Each jewelry piece from Chained by Sedona is made by hand, customized to the individual’s body.

What does your design process look like?
It begins with bead and chain selection. I go to DTLA, and it is anyone’s guess what might inspire me. Usually colors, and textures. Once I’m in my home/studio, I tend to dream of designs while I’m sleeping, this may sound strange, but I have little rooms that I place these designs in (in my mind). Unfortunately, I don’t always have access to those rooms, but this seems to be my process. Once I dream, I just begin threading the beads and the design takes shape.

You have talked about sustainability and racial justice; how do you incorporate that into your designs and business?
My designs are very simple from the perspective of what supplies I need to make them, chain, and beads. I’m not a large employer as I create each design by hand.

Racial justice is a passion of mine. My mom, and business partner, has been an anti- discrimination, anti-bullying, and sexual harassment prevention speaker my entire life. I was exposed to this constantly growing up, so it was natural that we would want to give back in our business together. Currently we donate to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund with each purchase. However, we are considering highlighting a new charity each month.

There are so many things we are passionate about including Indigenous Rights, LGBTQIA Rights, and Animal Rights. This will always be a part of who we are, and how we do business.

What have been your favorite pieces so far and why?
That’s such a difficult question. I loved creating the Calliope Harness that Lil Nas X wore in GQ. I also really love my newest design, the Chimera Fringed Mini, because it is so elegant and it’s the last design I created. I’m probably best known for my headpieces, and the Gaia is one of the first designs I fashioned, so it will always hold a special place.

What are your goals or visions for the future of your brand?
Of course, I would love to collaborate with the brands I’ve mentioned above. I will never stop dreaming of that. I also think that it would be an incredible accomplishment to show at Fashion Week in 2023. I have such a vision for how I would like to create that experience.
