A FLORAL STUDY TO BRING HOME BY A.P.C. QUILTS ROUND 29
The A.P.C. Quilts program was brought to reality from patchwork enthusiasts with a hunger to recover and recycle leftover fabrics in 2010, by which Jessica Ogden and Jean Touitou produce these quilts in limited batches.

Introduced in rounds, the new drop of quilts were inspired by the form, structure, and delicate power of nature’s flowers. After studying how flowers bloom, designer Jessica Ogden dissected them to understand their rhythm and translated that observation into textiles for Round 29.

As well as studying historical botanical drawings, Georgia O’Keeffe and Nick Knight acted as references as both artists capture the beauty of nature by simply letting it be. Certain patterns act as an interpretation of what you would see through a kaleidoscope, abstract and delicate.

Before A.P.C.’s workshop in India bring the quilts into life, they are hand-drawn in Jamaica by designer Jessica Ogden. Then, the fabrics are selected from A.P.C.’s remaining production stock and pieced together as true art is, mending together varying shades and textures to produce something fresh.

Every item showcases a commitment to craftmanship and the repurposing of high-quality fabric- a testament to care, enduring design, and a loving practice of art. The precise beauty of the plants featured in this round of quilts was captured by Alfredo Piola on Margarita Island, Venezuela.
