Magical Moments With Tomer Capon

The cover features Tomer Capon from the hit TV show,  Amazon Prime, The Boys. Going into its second season, which is premiering now, the show is coming on strong and is already guaranteed a third season.  Tomer plays the complex character, Frenchie, who lives by his own rules and has no attachments but wants to get the bad guys.

I chatted with Tomer via Zoom, while he was in his home country of Israel.  He has no plans to move to LA, but will remain where he was raised, which he describes as the most beautiful place.  Check out the cover story, “Magical Moments With Tomer Capon” and get to know the actor and his passion for children, animals, and acting.

1. Name?
Tomer Capon.

2. Where are you located?
Tel-Aviv, Israel.

3. What do you love about Israel?
Israel has everything, ocean, dessert, green and farming and it also snows here. And, the cuisine is great. Israel is a beautiful and complex place.

4. Did you always want to be an actor?
No, not really, my career started when I was 25 years old when I took a drama course with a friend. A casting director spotted me on my first audition.  I was always acting for fun with friends, animals, and children.  I love animals and I grew up on a farm and lots of them. Growing up in this kind of environment gave me a lot of freedom to imagine different kinds of worlds.

5. What do you like about acting?
Acting is how I overcame being shy. It has a connection with spirituality and my inner child.  It’s an uplifting experience.

6. What helped you early on in your career?
I met a lot of good people, gained a solid foundation, and was taken under their wing and guided on the right path.  It’s important to be surrounded by the right people.  And I like to stay based in my home country.  I have never lived in LA.

7. What actors do you admire their work?
There are so many, but I love Al Jolson, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Marlon Brando, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jim Carey, and James Dean.

8. Tell us about working with the cast members of the Amazon Prime’s The Boys.
It’s a great group of people who love what they are doing.  We all get along well, support and challenge each other, and believe in sharing.  It’s a great, big Rock-n-Roll team.

9. What is it like playing Frenchie?
He is definitely the most fun character! I love him. He is the wild card, but he is loyal and fights the bad guys.  I like him, there are no barriers and he is really out there. I also like his sassy style and crazy clothes.  It’s being a freeing experience playing him. Season 2 is really exciting; you will find out Frenchie’s real name, his real story, and actual trauma he experienced.

10. Most memorable experience so far working with The Boys cast members?
There are so many memorable experiences but this one scene on the boat in Season 2, which we shot for more than a week.  It was like a crazy bloody boat trip and we had so much fun shooting all together. We laughed so much about the madness we are all in. Everyone was on the boat, and we became so close. It was a great experience.

11. Tell us about being in the Military growing up in Israel?
It’s an experience that is two sides to the coin. I wish there was no need for armies at all but it was a PROFOUND learning and growth experience.

12. Who influenced you growing up?
My grandfather was a huge influence.  He was many things: a philosopher, teacher, engineer, and historian.  I learned so much about everything from him.  He would play all kinds of music while I grew up, including Frank Sinatra and Édith Piaf. He shared so much information with me.

13. What hobbies do you like to do?
My hobbies are the guitar, painting, motorcycles, and I have a dog.
