4. What is slow fashion?
To me, slow fashion is a thoughtful mindset that is applied to every stage of fashion consumption. From getting creative with what you already have, to approaching purchases with thoughtfulness, then caring for and mending clothes, and discarding clothes properly. A big part of slow fashion also has to do with the design and construction of clothes being made with longevity in mind, and done in a responsible fashion.

5. Where does ethically made clothing come from?
Ethically made clothing can come from anywhere, really. It's about providing good quality working conditions, and fair and living wages to the people making the clothes. I also believe the question of ethics in fashion extends to how responsible the manufacturers are being towards the environment and the resources they're using. The question of ethics is definitely not black and white, and needs a whole other conversation!

6. What are some of your favorite stores to shop at?
I'm a big secondhand shopper such as: Salvation Army, Goodwill, Value Village and online consignment stores like The Real Real and Vestiaire Collective are some of my go-to's. I also have some fave Canadian brands like Power of My People and Brave Soles.

7. Do you have any budgeting tips that maximizes stylishness?
Shop with a list is one of my biggest money-savers. If you spend time going through your closet and identify the gaps and building a list off of that and referring to it every time you shop, it helps you stay focused and avoid impulse and wasteful purchases.

8. Who is your favorite fashion icon? Why?
Emmanuelle Alt has been my favourite fashion icon for years now. Her signature style is classic and made up of basics, and she isn't afraid of outfit repeating!

9. How would you describe your style?
Classic with a twist!

10. How do you decide what you’re going to wear? Do you base it on the shoe? The weather? The setting?
It depends, usually weather comes first, then what my day looks like, then mood!

11. What is your favorite accessory?
Interesting earrings or vintage rings.

12. When did you know you wanted to be a stylist?
I just kind of fell into it to be honest! I think it was when I was managing a retail boutique and realized you could get paid to dress people for a living.

13. How do you engage with your followers?
I try to respond to every comment I get on my Youtube channel and Instagram. I'm not always successful. I also try to respond to email responses I get whenever I send out a newsletter. Interacting with the ladies in my audience is the best part of building an online community!

14. You have a nice flow of colors on your Instagram posts. How long does it take you to create content? Do you revolve outfit/picture choices around the colors?
Thank you! For Instagram, it doesn't take too long to create content but I try to have a week prepared ahead of time. My closet has a pretty defined palette so I try to make sure backgrounds and settings work with that set of colours and take the feed from there.

15. What is a typical day in the life of Alyssa Beltempo? It's different every day!
On days when I have to drive into the city to meet clients or go to meetings its pretty jammed, but most of the time I'm sitting in front of my computer editing video or writing, or in front of my camera filming!

16. What is one thing everyone should have in their closet?
A killer pair of shoes, whether a flat or a heel, as long as you feel like you can take on the world in them!

17. What’s next for you?
I'm really trying to shift from freelancing as a wardrobe stylist to growing my online community on Youtube and hopefully, beyond!

18. What is your motto in life?
Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
