Saturday, February 9, 2019, Christian Siriano presented an intergalactic fantasy on the 67th floor of Rockefeller Plaza. The designer cloaked his models in textured silver and platinum, ruffled and ruched jewel tones, and some fierce and feminine patterns. There are several clear trends and fashion themes for Fall/Winter 2019: Wintry Tie Dye, Duster coats, andsexy satin. Siriano ignored the majority of the trends for a timeless collection from out of this world. Siriano gave us monochromatics in bold colors, white, and black. He played with tulle-like fabric, feathers, and voluminous ruffles to vary the silhouettes around the wrist, shoulders, and hips. The show featured range in that pieces could be worn by confident business woman, a fashionista on a red carpet, or an elegant party goer seeking to turn heads at an exclusive event.

It must be said, that Christian Siriano features, dresses, and highlights his plus sized models better than most in the industry. There is a difference between tokenism and true integration. Siriano adorns his plus size models in a manner that shows pride and appreciation.  The fuller-figured women in the show are in a variation of flattering styles that celebrate their bodies: jumpsuits with a cold shoulder, fitted midi and full length dresses that show shape and movement, and sheer or cut out tops that showed skin other designers may be hesitant to expose. Siriano closed his show with a pièce de ré·sis·tance, Ashley Graham in a meteor crystal cascading mesh gown. A Siriano show is a loveletter to women’s bodies, and it was truly a joy to witness.
